Active Broadband Networks has developed an IPDR based Subscriber Service Management System for Cable System Operators. It leverages the existing investment in intelligent network devices to reliably collect subscriber service usage information and processes that to provide a subscriber centric view of network, device, service and subscriber usage. The Active Resource Manager provides:

• Subscriber Usage Centric Network, Device, Service and Subscriber Reporting.  The ARM processes subscriber service usage to report on service utilization needed to manage tiered and dynamic services. These reports include distribution of usage by service type upstream or downstream, subscriber usage ranking by service type and service tier, and subscriber activity, usage and volumes.
• Accurate Device Topology.  By extracting device and CMTS topology information from the IPDR usage records, the ARM creates and maintains a self updating topology database that inlcudes CPE-IP/CM-IP/CM-MAC/US-NAME/DS-NAME/CMTS-IP/CMTS-NAME.
• Demand Prediction.  Using statistical analysis of processed usage information, the ARM can predict future usage by service tier and by interface growth. Designed to help engineers plan capacity additions, the ARM can predict the number of days until configured thresholds are crossed.
• Top Talker Identification.  The ARM provides an automated top-talker identification system that is service tier and subscriber interface impact aware.
• User Quotas.  PDR provides an accurate, authoritive source of subscriber service usage. The ARM provides User Quota management based upon individual service classes or their aggregate.

The information displayed by the Active Resource Manager is stored in both memory and a persistant database. This informtion is valuable to other sub-systems used in the network such as Policy Managers. Currently, the ARM supports two API(s) for integrating its information with other control or management systems.
