Active Broadband Networks was founded in 2005 by a team of experienced executives and engineers who recognized that the management of consumer broadband networks requires accurate individual subscriber information and network information computed from individual subscriber information.
The team identified that system vendors were in the process of increasing the richness of information transfered to billing systems and operators were demanding standardization to an emerging, unified transfer mechanism called IP Detail Records.
We pioneered the use of billing information and processing it for use in Subscriber Service Management. We use this information to develop applications that help our customers address key issues in network and subscriber management. These include planning resource usage over time, configuration and control of network resources, and managing the experience and behaviour of individual subscribers based upon their impact on network resource availability. More recently IPDR has been broadly embraced by CableLabs® and its members. DOCSIS® 3.0, the latest release of DOCSIS®, is being deployed by Cable Operators to provide new and higher speed services to their subscribers has increased support for IPDR. All subscriber and network management information that requires high reliability and is generated in large volumes is provided by IPDR for collection, processing and storage by systems such as the Active Resource Manager. Active Broadband Networks is currently developing support for DOCSIS® 3.0 which will be available during 2009. While developing and deploying our product, we recognized that the best way to deliver our product to our customers was using an Open Source Model and during 2007 we released our core collection, storage and processing technology as Open Source.
Open Source benefits our customers by eliminating complex licensing, improving cost control, and providing choice for system support and ongoing functionality development.
Active Broadband Networks offers our customers commercial grade support for the Active Resource Manager in addition to deployment, integration and feature development services. In addition to providing Professional Services for our platform, we can provide technical services for other Open Source Systems and Management Consulting Services.
